PLUS lands Mumbai job

PETALING JAYA: After years of scouting around globally for projects to widen its earnings stream, PLUS Expressways Bhd has landed a RM148mil BOT (build, operate and transfer) job that involves a 21.6km highway near Mumbai in India.

This is PLUS’ first foray overseas but the company hopes to clinch many more jobs in India where it is said to be in talks with several other state governments for similar projects. Nearer home, it is trying to secure projects in Indonesia and Vietnam.

PM to lay foundation for six-laning of Panipat highway project

March 23, 2006

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will today lay the foundation stone for six-laning of 10 km stretch of the National Highway one (NH-1) running through Panipat in Haryana.

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda along with other ministers will be present on the occasion. Dr Singh will also address a public meeting on the occasion. Security men have been posted on the spot.

Rs 550-crore road project for L&T

March 11, 2006

Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T), bagged its first annuity-based road project — valued at Rs 550 crore from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

The project involves four-laning of the 76-km Palanpur and Swaroopgunj stretch located on the East-West Corridor on NH-14, linking Gujarat and Rajasthan. Secured against international competitive bidding, the order will be executed by L&T’s Engineering Construction & Contracts (ECC) Division in 30 months.

Toll technology war hots up

Toll technology Companies supporting CEN 278 technology form an association NHAI to call for consultants to help implementation of project.

The battle for controlling the technology standard for electronic toll collection systems on Indian highways appears to be hotting up. With Austrian company Efkon pitching for ISO CALM infrared technology standard for NHAI’s electronic toll collection (ETC) project, other players in the space, supporting the CEN 278 standard, have upped the ante and formed an association, called the Association of Toll and Traffic System Integrators of India (ATTSII).

First edition of e-Magzine – Editorial

We are glad to bring out the first edition of this e news magazine bringing you the latest news on the developments of BOT projects in India.

As you are all already aware that the future of road construction in India is going the BOT way . Not only the NHAI , but even the state governments such as the Government of Punjab through PIDB and Madhya Pradesh Government through MPSRD has come out with no. of BOT projects .

Apart from Road Projects even Check Post Management has gone the BOT way with state governments such as the NEW DELHI already having implemented and KERELA and RAJASTHAN in the planning stage to go for BOT projects for CHECK POST MANAGEMENT.

With this magazine we hope to bring together companies and professionals in BOT road projects to share news ,views ,problems and solutions through a platform which will bring together best of the industry through a forum for sharing thier knowledge .

Also we hope to use this a medium for recruitment of High skill professionals having experience in managing different aspects of BOT projects by the leading BOT concession companies.

Last but not the least we want to constantly educate the concessionaires about the latest in Tolling and Traffic Management Technologies offered by Metro Road Systems and its global partners –Kapsch Trafficom , Austria.
